Burn Notice: Heating Up

Hooray for plot momentum! Things start off in a big way this week with Michael, having solved another one of the beguiling Carla’s crossword puzzle meet n’ greets, leading to a less than friendly confrontation with new player Victor, who refers to himself as Carla’s “wrangler”. Mike calls him a rodeo clown and threatens to kill him with a chess piece, Vick holds a gun to Mike’s crotch, pretty standard. It turns out the point of this soiree is to give Mike a (secretly lo-jacked) contact phone and to recruit him for a mid-transit hijacking op for those who burned him. Can’t wait to see where this is headed.

Over in Client of the Week land (I think I’ll just start calling them CoWs), a childhood friend is accused of embezzling two million smackers from Valentine (Method Man) a rap mogul who’s books he runs. One well placed bomb scare is all it takes for Mike to sneak into hip hop HQ and get the DL on what real embezzler Eddie is planning. This leads to our hero positioning himself as a money launderer for hire with the advice of recurring launderer sleaze Barry and a cover identity courtesy of good ol’ Sam (mostly sidelined this week, having amusing adventures protecting Maddie). Only problem is, after getting Eddie to take the bait, Victor shows up uninvited and punishes Mike for going extracurricular by torpedoing his cover’s cred. But ever one for turning the tables, Mike counters by treating Eddie like he’s the one in the wrong and tells him the only way to fix things is to kill the accountant. Sam & Fi help to spring load an Eddie trap by kidnapping Valentine, and wham bam – Val gets to overhear Eddie confess to all his dirty dealings. CoW appeased, problem solved.

Back on the job for Victor, and curious about the contents of what he’s being forced to snatch and dash, Mike gets his McGyver on, building a crude mobile x-ray machine out of an old TV and a tazer. Wicked sweet. Thanks to quick thinking, a power saw, and a few incendiary shotgun shells, Vick gets his package and Mike gets his intel. Turns out Carla had need for the mother of all sniper rifles. I smell season finale assassination attempt!
