90210: Secrets and Lies

Adriana is done with her Amy Winehouse impersonation and ready to get back on track. Fresh out of rehab, she admirably tries to stay on the straight and narrow. Navid paid for her therapy, and Naomi tells Adriana that everything has a price, and that he expects something in return *wink wink*. It is sad that Adriana has been exploited so much that she feels compelled to use her body to repay an act of kindness. Fortunately Navid refuses, and maybe Adriana can start to realize her worth. Meanwhile Annie and Ethan continue to keep their relationship a secret from Naomi. This can only end disastrously, as Naomi has taken a sincere interest in friendship with Annie.
Speaking of secrets, Harry comes clean with Annie and Dixon about the kid he had with Naomi’s mom. Dixon is okay with it, but Annie is devastated. She slams her dad for keeping the info a secret for two months. I don’t see the big deal. He had to figure out the best time and place to tell them, after processing the shock himself. Annie rebels by getting wasted at Silver’s party. At the end of the episode Daddy comes to the rescue and they make up. Because she values honesty so much, she eventually decides to be truthful with Naomi about Ethan, but before she can tell Naomi, she sees Ethan and Annie making out at school.
Silver and Dixon grow closer, as Dixon discusses the circumstances of his adoption. Of course he had an absentee father, and his mother was worthless. *Sigh* It’d be nice if we could steer clear of black male stereotypes, but I guess the writers have attempted to do that with some other aspects of Dixon’s character, i.e. him playing lacrosse rather than basketball, etc.
Those are the highlights from the last episode, which was pretty entertaining. The acting is still shaky with respect to a few characters, but for the most part the show is up to par. The CW has extended the series through to the end of the season, so hopefully it continues to improve.
