Entourage: It’s Not Easy Beating Green

I hope to god Seth Green is an amazing actor because if the version of himself that he plays in the Entourage universe is even a little bit shaded with his actual personality, I’m tempted to hop a plane to Cali and sucker punch the man myself. Last seen in season 3, the Seth Green that E knows and loathes is like some wretched Bizarro Vince surrounded by sycophants and high on his own ego. Last time he saw our boys, Seth taunted Eric with lies about a sexual history with his girlfriend, leading to a well deserved fist in the jaw and an all out brawl between entourages which apparently left Drama with bits of teeth imbedded in his knuckles. Now with a sitcom deal in sight for E’s client Charlie, it seems the studio has their heart set on a part for Mr. Green and he’s not about to make things easy. The little turd makes E abandon the Smokejumpers set for a 3-hour drive to a meeting he doesn’t bother to show up at, and salts the wound by telling Eric that he won’t take the part unless E confronts his now ex Sloane, the lady who started the feud. Things go surprisingly well at their reunion, even as far as to hint that there may be renewed sparks in the future. His petty conditions met, Seth takes a meeting with E and Charlie at the studio. But when he pulls one last stunt demanding Charlie fire E if he wants him on board, it’s Charlie’s turn to throw the right hook. Up yours, Seth Green.
Back on the mountaintop, Vince has little success communicating with his new director who seems unable to give his talents a fair shake. Vince acts his smokejumpin’ heart out, and all Verner sees is another American pretty boy who tilts his head like George Clooney and lets his lips quiver. Not many laughs in this particular storyline, but it was nice to step back and watch Vince grow as an actor and strive for self-improvement.
Ari, still over a barrel after offering to buy out Andrew’s agency only to be rejected by Barbara, attempts a strategy completely foreign to him: kindness. With a little bit of schmoozing and a well placed shallow compliment, Babs agrees to sit down with Andrew to evaluate the deal only to browbeat the poor man into a panic attack. The ever loyal Ari reverts to more familiar tactics when he storms the mic at a Most Powerful Women In Hollywood luncheon with a rant that would make Susan B. Anthony vomit in her grave. Babs finally relents when Ari threatens to take his half of the business and split. Ari has gone to some rather extreme lengths for his old friend. All that remains to be seen is if Andrew is worth it.
And in case you were wondering, Drama & Turtle’s entire participation in this episode consisted of being asked to leave the set and deciding to play Wii Tennis in the cabin. Seriously.
