My Own Worst Enemy: Bye Bye

Bye, bye My Own Worst Enemy. You tried your hardest, and you did improve. I will give you that. The truth is that you might have had a better chance had the writers’ strike not screwed up this television season so royally that I’m still feeling it months later. But on to the show!
Edward’s is tailing a former Hungarian defense minister who sells weapons. His buyer is identified as Daniel Shaw, an old agent for the Department of Defense. However, Henry wakes up mid-tail. Mavis quickly, but sneakily (Trumble is also in the room) gets Henry up to speed, and Henry’s on Shaw’s track. Being not much of spy, though, he gets caught, and Shaw shoots him. Usually baths are calming, but in this torture bath, Shaw puts him in ice, then dumps boiling water on him and then electrocutes him. Luckily this activates Edward, who quickly gets his martial arts on.
Edward checks in with Mavis and lets her know he’s on to something. Henry was electrocuted by a defibrillator early on, and he underwent the porcelain electrocution, and both times, Edward came back. Later to make things that much harder for Henry, Edward tells Henry, via video messaging, that he’s hired an assassin to help him, the “cold-turkey” way, to protect and defend himself. He manages to escape, so tired by the new life he leads, and he returns home to some sweet lovin’ from his wife.
Tony, by this point, has figured out how to make the switch occur on demand. Or so he thinks. The process involves damaging the dual-personality spy with violent seizures. But Tony is on a mission to find out the answer and won’t stop anytime soon.
Meantime, Shaw has the bomb and plans to detonate it at a school in India. When Edward arrives, he sees a full school and proceeds to evacuate it. But one student is left behind in the theater. Shaw uses him as bait to control Edward. Just when it seemed like Edward is caught and he about to put down his gun, he turns around, takes Shaw down and chokes him. But, of course, Henry wakes up. With Mavis in his ear, she pleads with him to find the strength to stop the bomb and for maybe the third time all season, he pulls out his inner spy. He even gets Shaw to confess the location of the bomb.
The bomb squad arrives just in time to defuse the bomb. Henry has proven himself, and Tony has solved the problem of the flipping spy. Henry has second thoughts, but Mavis lets him know it’s not up for discussion. Henry will go back to being a normal guy, and Edward will go back to being a spy without a normal life. When they reach Tony, though, he’s been killed by someone that clearly doesn’t want Edward/Henry to be fixed.
B-Story: Raymond is found by a man from whom he stole money. More like, his alter ego Tom is found. The man even goes to his house and harasses him in front of his wife and Angie. Raymond realizes this can go south fast for him and Tom’s family. He chooses to not be his old self who ran but his knew dominating spy self. He takes down the man’s bodyguard and takes him out. He even rubs in his face that he knew the man still didn’t carry a gun because guys like him don’t like to get their hands dirty. (Ouch! In your face!) Unfortunately, Mary follows him and sees all of it. (P.S. Since Raymond joined Janus to escape his life of crime, he doesn’t want his bosses to know what’s going on which is also the reason that Edward found himself alone on his mission to Dubai.)
To end on a cliffhanger is so sad. For most of the time I thought that everything would be wrapped in a bow. Raymond would kill those guys and not be hunted anymore, and Henry and Edward would be fixed. There would be some cheesy montage where everyone’s happy killing or making babies, whatever suits your fancy. But then I realized, they were setting themselves up for something interesting post-holiday season. Now that Raymond’s wife knows and Toni is dead, the show could had led us down a better, more interesting road. But alas, MOWE. You had your chance. I can’t say I’ll truly miss you, but I definitely won’t talk smack about you anymore. You shall rest in peace.
