Campos Bio PicPop culture diva and native New Yorker, Jaimie Campos was among Poptimal.com’s first writers to take a chance and join the then unknown website.  Her writing ability is unparalleled and she is one of Poptimal.com’s most prolific writers, posting over 170 articles to her beloved fan base.  If that were not enough, Jaimie also co-hosts the J Factor podcast, where she provides sharp commentary on pop culture with her co-host and long time friend, J.B. Perlow.

Jaimie lives in New York City (East side represent!) and kids, it’s not all Gossip Girl and Sex in the City , because she’s tried, just ask the NYPD.  She also lived briefly in the Washington, D.C. area before returning to New York.   She loves movies, her Tivo, and reality television guilty pleasures, none of which will be listed here, thank you very much.

She has not nor will ever see, The Notebook. Alternately, she is both saddened by and proud that she gets Star Trek references in popular culture, and can tell you why the X-Men movies sucked compared to the original comic books.  It should be noted that she hated the Lord of the Rings movies and liked the two Matrix sequels. Make of that what you will.

When she is not giving her opinions on pop culture phenomena, Jaimie enjoys running, playing soccer, and plotting ways to sneak onto a 30 Rock or Gossip Girl set.

Her Favorite Movie Genres: Comedy, SciFi, and Horror.

Her Favorite TV Genres: Comedy,  SciFi / Fantasy (hated Buffy, loved Angel, hello Farscape!)

Her Current Coverage: Fringe, America’s Next Top Model, and Top Chef.  (Special Emmy Coverage)

In her own Words — Campos’s thoughts on . . .

Jaimie Campos, co-host of the Jone DomeLiving in Manhattan: I love living here. Something’s always happening somewhere, and people are always on the move. Where you start the night (or day) can be so different from where you end it – the possibilities are limitless. It’s not for everyone, but the pulse of Manhattan can’t be beat.

The Most Annoying Celebrity: Anyone from The Hills or any of those fake reality shows on MTV. Spencer and Heidi? I hate you both. I’d give anything to never hear about the Gosselins again.

The Celebrity She Most Wants To Interview: I can’t say Jason Statham here because I’d melt the second I’m in the room with him. That includes all the men in my Top 5, and who those are belongs in a separate set of questions. So I’d probably say Guy Ritchie, because his storytelling is sharp, efficient, and personalized. I don’t include Swept Away in this category. I’d love to hear him talk about his filmmaking process. Also, I’d love to interview Hans Zimmer.

Co-Hosting The J Factor With J.B.: The J Factor With J.B.: It’s great fun, since J.B. and I have been friends for a while now. It’s more fun when I’m right, and especially more fun when he finally admits that he’s wrong (I think that’s only happened twice now on record). We have certain topics we can’t discuss – religion and politics are okay, but not LOTR.

The Best Movie Of All Time: I’m going to change this to “Favorite” Movie of All Time, because Disney’s Alice in Wonderland isn’t going to win any awards. There are greater cinematic masterpieces out there, but this one had the biggest impact on me as a kid since I used to daydream all the time. I’m excited and worried about Tim Burton’s upcoming film.

The Best Television Episode of All Time: This is tough. Any Star Trek episode with an alternate reality. News Radio’s Titanic episode, because it was excellent, underrated satire. Angel’s series finale ranks up there. But I’m actually going to go with Batman: The Animated Series. There’s all the commentary about it being one of the darkest animated shows on television (especially at the time) that was aimed at kids. But BTAS also told well-thought out stories that humanized the villains and didn’t turn them into the clichés we find in big screen movies or on television. Villains and heroes aren’t black and white – they’re all shades of gray. My favorites:Heart of Ice, Baby Doll
