Psych: A Hitchcock Season Finale Preview

Time flies when you’re having fun, and wouldn’t you know, Psych’s fourth season is already a wrap.
It’s a season that took us to Canada and the Old West and added some Bollywood flavor in between. The pop culture references are always limitless, and the season four finale will take things to another level when it pays homage to classic Alfred Hitchcock films.
Ally Sheedy of The Breakfast Club fame made her first guest appearance on Psych last season as the serial killer Mr. Yang. She returns in this finale where her character is locked up in solitary confinement in the mental part of the prison. It turns out there’s a Yin to Sheedy’s Yang and Shawn, Gus, and the rest of the Santa Barbara police force are on the case.
The morning after appearing at the Academy Awards in a tribute to the late John Hughes, Ally Sheedy spoke with reporters about working on Psych. For her portrayal of Mr. Yang, she said she didn’t want to make the character too dark and recognized a certain sense of humor about her. Luckily, the director and producers felt the same. “I feel like I just get to wing it,” she said. “Anything I could come up with goes!”
James Roday, who plays the pseudo-psychic Shawn Spencer, couldn’t have been any more excited to have Ally Sheedy on board. Sheedy is actually the second Breakfast Club cast member to have appeared on Psych this season! Judd Nelson appeared in an episode in February, and while Roday agrees it’d be “quite sweet” to have all five former cast members appear on the show at some point, Sheedy and Nelson have always been his top two picks.
On his end, though, Roday has been doing a major balancing act with Psych. Not only is Roday the star of the show, but he has also written and produced several episodes, not to mention the fact that he directed this week’s season finale. Mixing both acting and directing has been a real challenge for Roday. “I’m lucky that on the acting side, I’m playing a character I’ve played for many many years, so that definitely helps,” he said.
Wednesday’s finale will be one of the season’s more dramatic episodes which Roday considers a “very ambitious episode.” Fans won’t be deprived of the usual comedic banter between Shawn and his buddy Gus, but things do take a turn towards the more heavy stuff. Roday assures fans that it won’t change the tone of next season, but “none of us are getting younger and we have to start addressing that.” And as with all finales, it’s not the ending you might expect.
The hunt for Mr. Yin is on when the season finale premieres Wednesday night, March 10th at 10pm on USA.

Well I love this episode but personally I do not like Abigail. Shawn saves her life and she breaks up with him. If I was him Id leave abby and go for Jules.
Correct me if I’m wrong, was there a shot of Abigail in one of the trailers? This is going to suck if Shawn has to choose between her and Juliet, I like them both! Although they’re probably going to be like every other TV show and both are miraculously saved… I hate when shows do that, get you excited questioning yourself on who it’s going to be and in the end nothing happens
PSYCH is the best show in the entire world!! I am now a fan of delicious flavor!!!
I LOVE this show!!!! I CANNOT wait until tonight! It’s going to be the best episode ever!
i love this season of Psych, it definitely gets better and better by the season!
Can not wait for this finale and seeing the episode directed by Roday
I hear so many things about the plot twist (in a non-spoiler kind of way) and i’m excited to see Ally Sheedy and the profiler guy again!
I’m just hoping after this episode air, Psych will be back for a new season very very soon!
I know i wont be disappointed!
Less than 9 hours now until the Season 4 Finale. Can’t wait! Counting it down….tic, tic, tic.
If it’s at all possible to be apprehensive about an episode of PSYCH, then I am tonight. I really enjoy the character of Abigail and have a bad feeling about this…
I can’t begin to express how very excited I am for this episode. I was going to brush up on my Hitchcock over the weekend, but because of circumstances that were out of my control, I only managed to see Vertigo.
Regardless! This episode looks to be beyond epic, and I can’t wait to see what brilliance Mr. Roday is giving us today.
I love this show!
this is going to be so epic!!! this season has been really awesome and the finale is going to be great. i cant wait!!!
Just one more day until the season finale…and then waiting.
I’m so sad that tomorrow’s episode is the last of the season.
But from the previews it looks like a really intense episode with lots of dangerous situation that Shawn and Gus will have to face.
One of the pics show Juliet crying in Lasiter’s arms, as if something had happened to Shawn =(
We’ll know more tomorrow. Can’t wait!
The heavy episodes are my favorites. They also add some great depth to the characters in their most gloriously quirky moments. I can’t wait.
Everything I’m hearing about this episode makes me a little nervous, but I can’t wait to see it!
Reading this i learned more then what i have got from the previews on tv.. I’m sure it will be one of those episodes you will be on the edge or your chair awesome!! Can’t wait to see what is happening..
It never ceases to amaze me how each new episode is better and more clever than the last and yet the first ones were perfection! There are not words to describe how great I think Psych is and Shawn, if he were a real guy, man I think we would get along quite well (even if I’m not nearly as great as he is)! I can’t believe we’re already to the end of the season. I’ll be counting the days till this season comes out on DVD!
I sorta wish I was a bigger Hitchcock fan so I would know which film they were referencing. The writing and acting on the show is superb. Tomorrow night is going to be insane!
I’m really excited for the finale tomorrow! The season finales always leave me wanting more!
I love Psych…I’m sorry the season is ending, but I think it’s going out with a bang! I’m thrilled to see Ally Sheedy back.
Oh no! That makes me think the show is going to end soon (James Roday’s comment)
Other than that I am SO PSYCHED FOR THE FINALE!!
I love the episodes James Roday writes and directs. They’re so intense!!
Psych is the BESSST!!!!!! All these previews have been getting me PUMPED!!!!! Can’t wait for tomorrow!
Love this show, all these sneak peeks have been getting me excited. Can’t wait for tomorrow night!

Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s episode. I’m going to love spotting all the Hitchcock references.
I loved the Mr. Yang episode so this one should be awesome as well. These dramatic and horror type episodes prove how good the cast is because it shows their acting range.
Can’t wait!
Quite excited for the finale, but it makes me sad that the seasons has to end. More psych, more of the year.
I’m so excited about the season finale on Wednesday! It promises to be thrilling and I’m certainly looking forward to the action. I just can’t believe the season is already finished.
I can’t wait to find out what happens tomorrow on the season finale!!
