Jersey Shore Review: Blow the Whistle!

Wow…this was an action-packed episode! This week’s Jersey Shore was filled with a shocking punch, a surprising truce, and a hilarious new invention: the grenade whistle. Miami was never this good.
Sometimes I have to wonder if Sam and Ron are angling for their own spin-off reality show, because I’ve never seen a more dysfunctional couple. They embody the old song “Break Up to Make Up” because that is, in fact – all they do. Apparently it is ok for Sammi to reconcile with Deena and Snooki, but Jenni is off limits. She’s untouchable not only to Sam, but Ronnie must also remain angry with her. Sam’s feud with the girls had inadvertently affected Ron’s relationship in the house with everyone else. He’s finally starting to hang out with the guys again, and that’s great. But when Jenni lends Ron a sympathetic ear about Sam, she flips out. “Are you friends with her?” she screeches repeatedly. Ron tries to ignore her and never directly answers the question. When she asks him again if he and Jenni are friends, he responds “If that’s how you want to take it,” and Sam slugs him right in the jaw.
To his credit, he didn’t explode or react in any way, except with tears of frustration. Sammi calls her mother to pick her up because she wants to leave the house. All of the other roomies (minus Jenni and Ron) plead with her to stay, and they seem to really mean it. Ron tells Jenni that Sam better leave because he’ll make her life miserable if she stays. Sam collects herself and apologizes to Ron for punching him, and she wants to make sure that he knows she’s sorry before she leaves. He ignores her and walks away. At this point I joyfully began tweeting that Sam is finally outta there, great! Not so fast. In true victim fashion, Ron forgives Sam for punching him and gives her a second chance. *sigh* It’s his prerogative to forgive her; I’m not saying he shouldn’t. But that doesn’t mean that he needs to take her back and that they should continue this farce of a relationship. They are ridiculous. One minute they are at each other’s throats, and the next minute they are snuggling like two teenagers. Toxic relationships like these never last in the long-term, but this pair seems content to keep the yo-yo routine, for now.
Last week saw the end of Jenni and Tom. This week she is rebounding with Roger, and she and Deena go on a double date on the Boardwalk. Roger seems like a nice enough guy, but I can’t really tell what kind of personality he has. For the time being he seems like a good possibility for a new beginning. While Jenni has fun with Roger, Deena tries to clear her “good” name. She gets wind of some barber shop gossip that Dean put out there. I had to really use my powers of deduction to find out what dirty deed Deena allegedly performed for him. The network censored every attempt the fellas made to describe what Deena supposedly did, but after some careful lip reading, I figured it out. Apparently Dean told everyone that Deena likes to…toss salad? If you don’t know what that means, I can’t help you. I certainly won’t define it here. That’s why they make Google folks, get familiar. For the record, Deena denies the rumor.
The funniest moment of the episode involved the fellas’ weekly avoidance of the dreaded grenade. By the way, I think they use that term too loosely. I don’t see what’s so wrong with some of these girls. But I digress. MVP comes back to the house with some girls who are DTF. The ratio of girls to guys is uneven, and the guys want Pauly to entertain the extra grenade. There is a random plastic tube out back by the hot tub. It’s shaped like a funnel, and I have no idea of its purpose, but Pauly discovers that if you blow on it, it makes a noise. This is the “grenade whistle,” used to alert the house to the presence of any potential landmine situations. LMAO!! Mean, but hilarious. Pauly sounds the alarm and the house erupts in laughter. He refuses to take one for the team.
If you thought last week’s reconciliation between Sammi and Snooki was surprising, you won’t believe what happened this week. In a moment of forgiveness at Karma, Jenni extends an olive branch to Sam and takes her to the bar for a drink. This was huge. These two swore that they would never speak to each other again; and look at them now. It was very big of Jenni to recognize Sam’s pain and offer a token of friendship. These guys might not be so trashy after all…nah, who am I kidding?

This was indeed an action-packed episode; probably one of the best episodes I can recall in a while. When it comes right down to it, great TV and great entertainment are always a must. Actually, MTV and Jersey Shore are always at the top of the list. I recently purchased a 26″ HD LCD and upgraded to DISH Network’s 722K. I never realized that there was such a difference between Snooki and Snooki in HD! Lol. Speaking as an employee, but more importantly a customer of DISH, if you haven’t upgraded to HD, I would recommend getting with the program. DISH Network offers MTV in HD and plenty others!
