Marnie continues to her descent into power hungry madness that we got a glimpse of last episode as she kills Casey, one of the humans trapped at Moon Goddess Emporium. Antonia wants nothing to do with her anymore but Marnie binds the spirit to her, unwilling to let go of the mega-witch powers she has as the entity known as Martonia. Not much changes though as the vampires try to negotiate for Sookie’s release by Bill and Eric killing each other in exchange. Pam takes matters into her own hands by launching a rocket at the shop, unwilling to let her maker die for Sookie. This backfires as the rocket doesn’t penetrate through Martonia’s defensive spell and injures Jason (as the only human outside) severely. Jess comes to his rescue and gives him more of her blood. Eric tells Pam to disappear from his sight in anger because she could have killed Sookie with her stunt. It’s so sad to see Pam being spurned like this, but for the first time her maker actually gives a damn about someone else other than his own maker or his progeny.
Meanwhile Jesus is able to channel his own brujo magic to sever the ties between Martonia. Just in time as Martonia has convinced the humans to join with her to get force the vampires outside into the sunlight protection spell of death and when Sookie stops them again with her own fairy magic, Martonia encircles her in fire. I was impressed with Kevin Alejandro’s acting this week, I was a little freaked out by his transformation into a demon because of its sheer ugliness.
The separation allowed the vampires to enter Moon Goddess Emporium and Eric rips Roy’s heart from his chest with his bare hands then sucks the blood out from the aorta like it’s a freaking juice box. Viking rules. So it was anticlimactic that Bill kills Marnie via automatic gun to the chest then the head. But hey, not everyone can be as dramatic as Eric Northman. Killing Marnie may not have been so smart though as her spirit shortly returns and possess Lafayette. As he would say, oh heeeell no!
In other big news, Alcide has finally abjured Debbie. After Sam and him find her in her unmentionables with Marcus and Alcide accidentally kills the werewolf after protecting Sam being shot, he has finally had enough of crazy Debbie. Marcus after making sweet lovin’ to female werewolf, wanted her to run away with him and be a mom to Emma. Luna comes to Sam completely freaked out that her daughter is missing and finds out that they’re at Alcide’s house when Emma calls her from the home phone. Upon getting to the scene, Alcide lets Sam and Marcus fight it out, Sam still needing to settle the score for Tommy’s death. Debbie is on the sideline trying to stop Sam from hurting Marcus, but Alcide is making her stay out of it. Sam stops himself from actually killing Marcus but the other man grabs the gun and takes a shot at the shifter, only to be stopped by Alcide and dies in the process.
Andy, in the meantime is still in the woods walking home when a new fairy appears, who makes the sheriff promise that he’ll protect her. I guess they weren’t done with the fairy storyline after all, but having them come back this late in the season means that we’ll probably not get much more on this story until season four.
The episode felt pretty slow compared to last week’s as Martonia’s death wasn’t anything epic, the Bill/Sookie/Eric situation continues to be in status quo (meaning Sookie is unable to make a choice), nothing really became of Andy’s V addiction, Jason seems to be ready to take his feelings about Jess to Hoyt, and Jesus is traumatized from using so much magic. I’m sure many people are glad though that the werepanther storyline seems to have faded into the background but with the faeries appearing again, it makes me wonder if they’ll make one last comeback in the season finale. Maybe we’ll see a girl fight between Jessica and Crystal for Jason’s love? Now that would be fun. That and seeing crazy Debbie back!
