Comic-Con 2013: Children’s Hospital Goes to Japan
Rob Huebel and Erinn Hayes were on hand with show producer Jonathan Stern to talk season five of Children’s Hospital at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
The cast and crew appear to be genuinely happy working together as the entire season took only six weeks to film over the holidays and, according to Stern, they didn’t get sick of each other.
But onto season five.
Hilarity ensues as the setting changes from a hospital in Brazil to an army base in Japan where guests will include Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman, Weird Al Yankovic, Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key, Jaleel White, Justin Kirk, Jack MacBrayer, and Judith Freelander.
Hayes teases that in one episode she will be making out with both Justin Kirk and Weird Al, who will play a younger version of Kirk’s character. Stern points out that of course chronologically it makes no sense. Hayes mentions that there will be a line where someone says to Kirk, “Has anyone ever told you that you look like an old Weird Al Yankovic?”
Season five is promised to have lots of action and romance with Peele’s Dr. Brian and Hayes’ Lola renewing their love, as well as a potential relationship with Henry Winkler and Megan Mullally’s characters.
“There’s a lotta heat! We’re heating it up!” Huebel exclaims.
Additionally this will be the first time that the show no longer has a narrator. Stern says that they’ve grown from doing a Grey’s Anatomy parody.
Watch Children’s Hospital on Adult Swim Thursdays at 12 midnight.
