Erin Biglow

Erin Biglow is a native Wisconsinite who has let herself become unbelievably spoiled by the fantastic weather Los Angeles has to offer, and develop a deeper appreciation for her car horn on the freeways.  A lifelong pop culture junkie, Erin continues to impress (and often creep out) her friends by her almost savant-like knowledge of film, television and trashy celebrity trivia.

Erin likes to keep the intellectual quality of her entertainment and media exposure as balanced as possible, evident in the dichotomy between her fervent viewings of such guilty pleasure programming as Hoarders and the gloriously layered nuances of Mad Men. Also on Erin’s Must-See TV list are Breaking Bad, Dexter, True Blood, Project Runway, Modern Family, 30 Rock, The Good Wife, Fringe, and Top Chef.

As for the world of film, Erin acknowledges her tendency to adopt a rather smug pretension (or high standard, depending on one’s perspective) when entering the theater, and is therefore simply unable to stomach such drivel as Meet the Fockers. The recent revelation that yet another installment in the Big Momma’s House franchise will be unleashed on the same clueless demographic only exacerbates Erin’s despondency toward the current state of modern cinema.

Luckily, recent bright spots such as The Social Network, Let Me In, Black Swan, Exit Through the Gift Shop, The Kids Are All Right, 127 Hours, Inception and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World have helped counteract her disdain. Erin lists True Romance, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Amelie as three of her favorite films of all time, but if My Cousin Vinny is ever on cable, she has to stop whatever she is doing and watch it.

Erin is thrilled to be part of the Poptimal team, and to further perpetuate the rabid information-gathering habits of fellow pop culture hounds like herself. She hopes to one day fulfill her dream of extending her media musings from online reviews to her own television show, and has moved one step closer to this goal by hosting a bimonthly podcast on Poptimal, the succinctly titled What You Need to Know.

Until then, she’ll be steering clear of the frightening number of Twi-Hards populating the Earth and standing firm on her promise to never, ever watch an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
