Gabe Callahan

Gabe Callahan was raised in Nor Cal and is now a resident of Los Angeles, California. He is a film, TV, literature and Internet geek. Gabe has a degree in Film and Media Studies and has worked in the TV industry for 10 years. So he kind of knows what he is talking about. He has even worked at the Academy Awards and the Emmys. And yes, it is as cool as you would think.

Gabe was originally drawn to Poptimal because “they give the honest truth and aren’t afraid to say what we’re all thinking.”  He loves NBC’s Thursday night comedies and thinks Glee is good for America. Gabe wishes he lived in the world of Mad Men because, “I would be an awesome functioning alcoholic.”  Writing about TV shows and movies is a passion of his and he finds sharing his thoughts on the Interwebs very rewarding. Rewarding in a creative way that is, not financially, although that would be nice.

One of his favorite quotes about Hollywood comes from Raymond Chandler, “I am not a big shot in Hollywood or anywhere else and have no desire to be. I am, on the contrary, extremely allergic to big shots of all types wherever found, and lose no opportunity to insult them whenever I get the chance.”

Gabe believes that just because a movie has Meryl Streep in it or James Cameron directing it, doesn’t have a discernible plot or takes place in Boston or has actors with foreign accents crying in it, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good. And that people shouldn’t be afraid to say that they thought Million Dollar Baby sucked and that their favorite movie is Just One Of The Guys.  “There’s nothing worse than a snob,” he says as he sips his 30-year-old scotch.
