Coriolanus Review: More Coriol, Less Anus

Just a few months ago I reviewed one filmmaker’s effort to show us a fictionalized account of William Shakespeare’s life with Anonymous, but now I come to you with something more challenging and ultimately more effective – a modern day adaptation of one of the Bard’s lesser known works, Coriolanus. We’ve seen this done before with movies like Ten Things I Hate About You, O, and Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet (which had the gal to retain Shakespeare’s original language), but rarely do we get film adaptations of the less popular titles in a film business that relies all too much on name recognition. And let’s be honest, Coriolanus doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue now, does it?
