True Blood Review: Season Finale Thud

It’s the end of another crazy season on True Blood and this had to be my least favorite episode. Why? The predictable outcome of Sookie choosing neither Eric of Bill, leaving this triangle yet still a triangle for another season to come. But let’s check out the body count for this season finale first. First there is Jesus, who is forced by Marnie/Lafayette to give up his demon powers or else he could kill Lafayette. She then kills him.

Marnie continues to her descent into power hungry madness that we got a glimpse of last episode as she kills Casey, one of the humans trapped at Moon Goddess Emporium. Antonia wants nothing to do with her anymore but Marnie binds the spirit to her, unwilling to let go of the mega-witch powers she has as the entity known as Martonia. Not much changes though as the vampires try to negotiate for Sookie’s release by Bill and Eric killing each other in exchange.

With only three episodes left till the end of season four (has the summer really flown by that quickly?) the different storylines are finally beginning to come together. In a nutshell, Sookie loves both Eric and Bill, so when the witches harm the vampires she fights on their side. Then you have Tara, Lafayette, and Jesus who get involved with the witches because Jesus is a brujo and Lafayette is a medium, like Marnie who is now possessed by Antonia. Holly gets pulled in because she’s a Wiccan; meanwhile she’s also starting to like Sheriff Andy Bellefleur.

It’s hard not to feel something for all the characters in the series. In this episode, Tara (Rutina Wesley) is forced to send Naomi back to New Orleans without her after they are both nearly killed by Pam (Kristen Bauer Von Straten). Pam is seeking revenge for her decomposing body and for Eric’s (Alexander Skarsgard) amnesia. Since she can’t get to Marnie/Antonia (Fiona Shaw) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and Jesus (Kevin Alejandro) are out of town, Tara is the only one she can get her hands on.

True Blood Review: Eric and Sookie, United and It Feels So Good

Before we get to the amazingness that is Eric and Sookie’s scene in this week’s episode of True Blood, let’s do a quick recap of last week. Portia tries to convince Bill that incest is fine, he refuses and glamours her into believing that she’s terrified of him and has a uncontrollable urge to scream whenever she sees him. Good for you Bill! The men of Bon Temps must really be lacking for Portia to be totally psycho in trying to convince her great-great-great-great-great grandfather to continue their intimate relations.
